The Tatiana Giraud Foundation was established in September 2009 with the goal of helping victims of rape and sexual violence in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. We support hospitals in the DR Congo that provide healthcare, education and housing to women and girls who have been raped. Some of these women and girls are so violently raped that it sometimes takes multiple operations before they are able to physically recover from their ordeal.
We raise money for these projects through our fundraising events and private donors. One of our main goals is to inform the general public in developed countries about the issues that surround and are at the root of rape and sexual violence in the Congo.
The most important treatment for victims of sexual violence are fistula operations. When Women in DR Congo are raped, they are raped so violently that their vaginas are left torn and they are rendered incontinent.
The Tatiana Giraud Foundation is a registered UK charitable trust no: 1134942
